Tonight we tried the concept I originally had planned for yesterday. Instead of using a grid I opted for a small/medium shoot-thru umbrella. I feathered the light down and away from Shannon, which ended up giving us a nice bit of edge darkening on the left side of the frame. I shot this pose from three different angles and found that setting up near shoulder level on the shadow side of the area looked best. The high angle shots really didn’t work at all. I did have to open up the shadows just a bit in post process but by and by the image came out very good.
