Tonight Shannon had date night with one of our old friends. This weekend we had gone to her son’s birthday party and she decided to let our youngest stay over at her house. The boys ended up having so much fun together that she is allowing our son to stay for the week. Shannon had to pack him a bag to take over and went to dinner with them all. Our two middle children and I were left to fend for ourselves and so it was Papa John’s to the rescue. We ordered pizza and wings and had a great time just sitting around the table telling stories and giving each other a hard time.
When Shannon arrived home I was nearly ready for the shoot. I had finished all of my nightly pre-shot tasks and only had to concentrate on the pose and lighting. I wanted to shoot something similar to a shot we had captured several years ago titled “The Boxer”. Shannon went and pulled her hair up and covered herself in baby oil. I set up our key light at a 45-degree angle to where she would be posed. With out lighting set I took a few photos and we were done. The final product was better than expected but in playing around with the image in post I decided not to render it in black and white and instead chose to go with a more warm tone.
